☆ Happy New Year! ☆

Hello Friends,

Happy '13!
I hope this finds you off to a delightful start to 2013. (Holy crap, 2013! Shouldn't we be riding around in flying cars by now??)

I am rather fond of shiny new years. They're so ripe and plump with possibility.

I spent the last few days working on my 2013 Writer Goals.

I'd like to share some of them with you:

1) Continue to support and be a light for my fellow authors and writers. This is a tough biz, and I want to help keep friends and fellow writers focused on the creative, fun part...and help support the business part. I will strive to keep people positive and inspired. Writing and reading is pure imagination and magic. I want to help my fellow writer friends keep that magic that alive, especially when the sparkle feels like it's dulling.

  a) And, likewise, I vow to surround myself only with those who do the same (for others and for me).
Cultivating and supporting good, true friends in this business is crucial. I shall strive to do my part.

2) Be a better blogger in '13.

To that end, I want to apologize for being The Worst Blogger In All The Land.
I had little to say in '12 on here that I couldn't say in less than 140 characters on The Twitter. I've been trying to save all my writing words and creativity for writing books, and critiquing for friends.
Now that the calendar has rolled over to a spanky new year, I've made a commitment to refurbish my blog and relaunch with a shiny new look. I promise good things. I have a plan. *twirls mustache*

The goal is to have this up and ready by the end of the month, or early Feb.

3) Revise the two novels I drafted in '12.

4) Exercise daily. Eat cleaner. Why? Writing is sedentary. I have severe asthma. This is not good. Also, I love animals, and this planet, so I am trying not to eat meat. Our dairy products and eggs are all organic and from free-range farms. Our fruits and veggies are all organic. I want to do better, for my health, for our planet's health.

(No, I am not going to give up Doritos. Or chocolate cake. Ain't gonna happen.)

There's more, but I won't bore you with any more.

Anyway, I sincerely wish you a marvelous, healthy, creative, love-filled year.
Please know that I am grateful for you.

What are YOUR top goals for this sparkly new year?

Great goals Lola. I want to get up and exercise more too. Writing involves too much sitting like you said. Hope to see you around more in 2013.

Lovely goals, and I'm sure you'll achieve them all.

My year's getting off to a bumpy start, but I have high hopes for the rest of it. One way or another, this year is going to be full of changes for me, and for many others.

Look forward to seeing your new design!

Darling Lola! Nano nearly killed me but I finished--and plan on doing it again (was a newbi) this year, but will be MUCH more prepared!

My goals--breathe deeper, smile more, and feel the sun & wind on my skin every day. xo

My goals are similar to you as well. Eat good foods, continue being active, read more, learn more, and most importantly, have fun. :)

Regular exercise in particular is a good resolution to make. I used to procrastinate about exercising all the time; I bought a gym membership but initially went days (or even weeks) without going to the gym. But then I got into the habit of going to the gym regularly, and now I enjoy exercising. And it makes me feel good, too.

Great goals, Lola! I've been a terrible blogger too, but really, when you have to decide between writing your WIP or blogging...well, you know which one wins out!

You couldn't be the worst blogger in '12 because I'm pretty sure I won that title with my months' long hiatus and complete anti-social behavior.

Have a great year!

I believe I'm the worst blogger in all the land. I only had two posts in 2012. Sad, sad blogger. Lol. Happy 2013!

Those are some awesome goals, Lola! (Though I'd have to say that I, not you, am the Worst Blogger In All The Land.) :) Good luck with all of your goals! I especially like the one about surrounding yourself with positive people. Thanks for being one of those positive people for me. <3

Lola Sharp
My name is Lola. (I'm not a showgirl) Yes, L-O-L-A Lola. It's the least of my worries. Let's move on, shall we? This blog is mostly about my misadventures on the journey to publication and beyond. My passion for lush prose, quirky characters, art, music, literature, performing arts and anything creative will be a major theme here. This journey of mine will not always be pretty. Much like rubbernecking a train wreck, I know sometimes you just can't help but look at the carnage that is often my life. So strap on your neck brace, helmet and 5-point harness and come along for the ride! Licentia poetica.
