Sundry Bits

Hello Friends,

I know, I know. I've been away from the bloggy-verse for too long. Longer than I intended.

I've missed you.

I've been busy and inspired and...busy.
I have so many random things floating around in my head to tell you about.

(and we're NOT going to talk about the raging inferno of a heat wave outside my door and likely yours too.)
Where to even begin?

1) I know you love to read as much as I do, thus, prepare to love me for telling you about THIS site-->  Life changing, I tell you. LIFE CHANGING.

2) Would you like some free storyboard templates? Yes? (trust me, you do. You'll thank me later for this site too) Go here-->
I usually use this template:
but there are LOTS to choose from.

3) I've long been obsessed (and have done many posts on them) with vardo caravans.

I dream of having one in my backyard as my own little

magical writing cottage.
(further justification: it could double as a guest cottage, too.)
très romantique, no?
I have huge folders filled with my collections of pictures of these caravans... shall I share a few with you? Oui!

Fantastical! Are you not inspired to write in one of these?
LOVE this bohemian purple a green...pretty!

don't you want to write in here?

My dogs and cat would *love* hanging out here with me!
Love love love the pillowed swing... and fire pit
*LOVES* *drools* *NEEDS*

Yeah. I'll stop now.

4) I've received many emails and tweets asking for pictures and such from our vacation. First, let me say the timing of going to Harry Potter World right before the final movie was perfection. It amped the excitement and immersed us deep into Harry's world.
The outside of Hogwarts..inside is the BEST ride EVER: The Forbidden Journey.
Worth the price of admission just for this ride alone.
my daughter and my husband (on right) and random strangers (on left)
daughter wishing she had her invitation to Hogwarts
daughter wishing she could buy Hermione's dress. (sadly, it's just a display; not for sale)
We only spent one day at Universal (just to go to HP World), the rest of the 2 weeks was spent in Disney. Aside format he heat, we had a magical time.
daughter with Belle inside the castle.
husband with Aurora inside castle
Okay, I won't bore you with any more family photos of our vacation. (I wouldn't have posted them if so many hadn't asked.)

5) Thank you JK Rowling for giving us Harry Potter. It has been an amazing journey.

Neville saves the day!

If these don't inspire you to dream big, to create new fantastical worlds, I don't know what will.

Tell me about your dreams. I care about them.

Know this: I love you. I love you for being my friend, for loving words and creating worlds and for understanding why I love words and creating worlds.

Thanks for being in THIS world. *hugs*

So many fantastic pictures, wow! It looks like you had a great time. And I would totally love one of those adorable caravans as a writing cottage. Cool idea! So glad to have you back. :)

Rah for Harry Potter. I saw the movie on Thursday, very cool. And I LOVE those gypsy caravan photos!!! Thanks for sharing those. Now I want one!

Carla White said...

Those gypsy beds look so comfy I think I'd just take too many naps in there and not get any writing done. But, the one by the water with the big, winding tree would be my ideal spot for writing and the mist just adds to the fantastical element. Love it! The colours are fabulous, too.

Looks like you had a fun vacation - hope it was relaxing too.

Sarah said...

I want to live in a gypsy caravan!

Lola! You're back! And with so many lovely piccies, too. Your vacay looks looks like it was truly fantastic. :)

And now I want a gypsy caravan. *sigh*

I wouldn't have thought they'd be so big inside! I'm with you on the caravan love; between Danny Champion of the World and The Name of the Wind, they just seem like such cosy, bohemian homes.

The photos are awesome. Really good to hear from you, Lola!

Lola Sharp said...

Y'all are sweet to stop by here on a Saturday. Thank you. <3

Wouldn't it be shiny if we ALL had a gypsy caravan? I think we should start a movement. The magical bohemian gypsy writer's caravan movement.

I swear to you, one day I WILL own one and it will be magnificent.

And, thanks Alex.

Lola Sharp said...

OK--you are always so delightful. Thank you for the kind words about my daughter. *hugs*

How I've missed you!

The photos are lovely. I'm glad your family had a wonderful time.

Now, who are these people with gypsy wagons and why don't I know them?

Summer Frey said...

If you get one of those, one day you will come out and find that I have taken up residence in it, with my Romanian gypsy lover Sebastian. (True story: I went to college with 2 guys from Romania, and one day I mentioned something about gypsies to one of them, and he was very anti-gypsy. Sadness.)

Eliza Tilton said...

yup, I want on a gypsy caravan now

Elliot Grace said...

...gypsy caravans, you don't say?
Then surely you're a fan of Gaiman's "Stardust," and all the magical fervor surrounding those whimsical travelers ;)

Happy Weekend, Lola!

omg. i TOTALLY need a gypsy caravan now!

Samantha Vérant said...

Belle doesn't look real! Is she made of wax??? Oh, and Gypsy caravans? I don't mean to let you down, but here in France...Yeah, pretty much RVs in RV parks. The ones you posted are absolutely MAGICAL!!!!!

Laura Marcella said...

Love love love those gypsy caravans!!! Everyone needs one of those in her backyard!

Jeff King said...

I would love to have a gypsy caravan in my back yard… I would use it to write in, that would be awesome.

Jemi Fraser said...

LOVE those caravans! We only had 2 creative writing assignments in my school years. For the first I wrote a story centered around a gypsy caravan! It was ridiculously sappy and sentimental. I don't have a copy of it (I wish I did!) but I remember it well. Thanks for the memories :)

James Garcia Jr said...

Wow, great photos. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us. Lovely family!
As for dreams, I find that I have been living it for the past year and a half. I never thought I would be published...ever. Very soon it will be happening for the second time, and that's not even counting all of the magazine articles and posts that I have been writing. I went from having no one reading my words to having people do it on a weekly basis.
In the end, however, the best part of the whole thing will probably prove to be my meeting of wonderful people like you, Lola.
Have a great week.

JEM said...

Lola! I missed you. And those caravans are AMAZING writing places. I totally want one, especially if I can have an awesome backyard like that one picture. Although can you call it a backyard when it's just nature? I'm pretty sure I'm living in the wrong place. My backyard is made of can I dream?

Welcome back!

Heather said...

I love those pictures! And I saw HP 4 times in a week! It's not enough!

Lisa Potts said...

O.M.G. Can we talk about the uber awesomeness of those gypsy caravans? I have never seen the INSIDE of one. I think you've given me a new obsession.

And HP? It almost feels like a death in the family. My oldest is reading all of them again *wipes tear from cheek*.

Love you too, sweetie!

Thanks so much for indulging (and enabling) my gypsy wagon addiction. They sing to my inner bohemian nomadic self. My inner gypsy.

Thank you all for taking the time to stop by. I'm so blessed and grateful for you. *hugs*

I don't care if you took a long blogging break because it was so worth the wait.

1) Those little places to write. Some of them are gorgeous!

2) Hogwarts!

3) Inspirational Harry Potter quotes.

Our raging inferno is about to be washed away as we're on the outskirts of a small tropical storm...yay!!

I've never really looked at gypsy caravans, but I have to say...they look quite addicting! I'd love to have one (or three or four) to set up studio in! How fun!

You are always an inspiration, dearie. Those gypsy caravan photos were lovely. Makes me want to write a story with gypsies ;) Perhaps one day something good will come to me.

It looks like you had an amazing time at Disney! Perfect timing, indeed. If only it were possible to just move into Hogwarts. I know I wouldn't be the first to dream of it.

I hope you are well, sweet. Miss you.
