✩☆ Jolly by Golly (and other magic) ☆✩
Happy Holidays, Friends!
How are all the Who's in Whoville doing this week?
I hope you are happy and healthy and enjoying your Whobilations, including but not limited to the building of snowpeople...even if they look like Bjork.
So many things to talk about...
1) Cheermeisters Melissa and Jen decided to take the reindeer reins on festive fun and thus behold the Be Jolly by Golly blogfest!
We are asked to provide some pictures of our personal holiday decorations and our favorite holiday recipe(s).
(Don't forget to visit everyone else (the list is here), share in the holiday spirit and spread the cheer!)
Here's a little peek into our home (too tired to take and download and upload more than a couple...football company just left):
So, *maybe* I hinted to Santa (only a teeny, tiny bit) that something (small) from a certain dreamy place (see below picture) wrapped in their trademark turquoise blue box and placed under the tree (with my name on the tag) would be warmly received...
But, Santa Baby had an even bigger and better gift in mind... and left it in my driveway (!)...
(I love you, Santa!) *kisses* (BEST gift EVER)
Hmmm, where was I? Oh yeah, recipe sharing time. Let's make it a festive cocktail (or two), shall we?
Holiday Spirit(s) coming up!
For the sweet, I give you my FAVORITE winter cocktails:
(makes one martini)
1 oz. quality vanilla vodka
1 oz. Frangelico
1/2 oz. Grand Marneir
Ice
Mix all ingredients in an ice filled shaker
Shake gently
Strain into chilled martini glass
Lola's Chilled Hot Chocolate Martini
Mix all ingredients and gently shake with ice.
Strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with chocolate shavings (or hot chocolate powder mix, or crushed candy canes). (I use one of the liqueurs to wet the rim and then dip in choc. or crushed candy canes)
Garnish with a miniature candy cane.
2) Give Books for the Holidays. Because scented candles and a tie never made anyone smarter.
Give the gift of imagination and knowledge...
3) Whoever and wherever you are and whatever holidays you may celebrate...
I wish you much peace, happiness and love.
And plenty of unblocked, brilliant writing.
CHEERS!
Love,
Lola

About Me
- Lola Sharp
- My name is Lola. (I'm not a showgirl) Yes, L-O-L-A Lola. It's the least of my worries. Let's move on, shall we? This blog is mostly about my misadventures on the journey to publication and beyond. My passion for lush prose, quirky characters, art, music, literature, performing arts and anything creative will be a major theme here. This journey of mine will not always be pretty. Much like rubbernecking a train wreck, I know sometimes you just can't help but look at the carnage that is often my life. So strap on your neck brace, helmet and 5-point harness and come along for the ride! Licentia poetica.

I need to be nicer to Santa, apparently. Wow, congratulations!!!

Hey, Santa came early to your house! Wow. You've been mighty good.
I love all the cheer in this post. Thanks and have a wonderful week.
This is very lovely. Thanks for sharing so muchness! Happy Christmas!
Those cocktails look fantabulous. Especially the chocolate martini (wow).
Here's another nice xmas cocktail that was on wordpress recently:
Partridge in a Pear Tree
■1½ oz pear vodka
■½ oz lemon juice
■½ oz simple syrup (I used agave nectar instead)
■Champagne
■Rosemary, cut into 1½ inch sprigs
Place one rosemary sprig in each glass. Combine vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup (or agave) in a shaker over ice. Shake well, and strain over rosemary. Top with champagne. Serve and enjoy!

Santa brought you a car???? I guess all of my letters have been going to an imposter Santa.
See, I always watch those car commercials and think "No one gives a car as a Christmas present for goodness sakes." Seems I was wrong.
I'd stay and write more, but I have to go make me a Hot Chocolate martini. :D

Thx for the wonderful pics... it sure has brightened my day.
Hey, Stranger! Merry Christmas.
This whole theme that you folks have been doing was such a great idea. I'm one of the crazy ones who simply must decorate the day after Thanksgiving, so it was great to see everybody's decorations. Yours look fantastic! It sounds like it has been a great Christmas for you already, hasn't it?
I love reading about holiday treats, but the holiday cocktails are just what the doctor ordered!!
Take care,
-Jimmy

I loved this post & I really love your mantle. I am just now reading it as I took a long holiday away from my computer to spend time with my kids. I love all of the pix and the jolly humor. Too bad I don't have any winter wonderland photos to share; here in Louisiana we are lucky if it gets cold enough to wear our Holiday sweater. Thanks for the creme brule martini recipe ( it will go over great in La.) I look forward to reading more.
Melissa
