How Are You? I Miss You. (and other stuff)

Hi Friends,

1) I've missed you. How are you? Tell me. Please. I miss you, terribly.

2) I've been absorbed into my Nano-WiP. I was behind but I rallied all ninja-like with a few stellar word-count days this week...and I managed to pull myself forward and into the 40s as of today. (see our sidebar fancy Nano-word-count-race-o-matic-o-meter thingy)

3) My sweet and dear friend, Carol (@ Carol's Prints)

is having yet another AWESOME book/ARC giveaway! Hurry, scurry on over there and enter!
If you aren't already following her, by some impossibly impossible, teensy-tiny chance, she is warm, kind, funny, generous and one of the most thoughtful, loving people I know. So, do yourself a favor, and go meet her.

4) When I look at the rat and his little teddy bear above, it always make me think of this:

5) For those of you doing Nano this year, how's it going?

6) Several of my CPs are doing nano with me (again, see sidebar, race-o-meter)  and I'm proud to say that they've all been kicking my butt most of the month and we are ALL on track to 'win'. I feel blessed to have such delightful, talented friends and CPs.

7) One of them, the lovely Portia, 'wrote' this song for me   yesterday...ya know, as a Procrastination Technique (she called it 'goofing off') (I don't think I need to give you the melody):

I met her on a blog on the Internet
Where you go to goof around
When you can’t find the words to meet your Goal-a
Your writing

She walked up to me and she asked me to crit
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice
She said Lola, L-O-L-A, Lola, L-L-Lola

Well, I'm not the world's most wordsmithy-gal
But when she asked me to critique I couldn’t say no
Oh my Lola, L-L-Lola

L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

8) She's probably gonna kill me for sharing it here. ;)

9) Before she kills me, I want to tell ALL OF YOU who visit and comment here, how thankful I am for you. You all inspire me in a million little and not-so-little ways. THANK YOU.

10) I know how busy life is and how many millions of marvelous blogs and books are out there, so I truly am honored that you take the time to visit me. Again, thank you. I promise to write a proper post soon...and to visit you!!

How are you?

Edited to add: CONGRATS to Patti Smith!! (and Robert and Betsy, too.) For the love of art, friendship, music and the printed, tangible page full of meaningful prose...I salute you!

The miracle IS love. Indeed.

Oh my word, that song was AWEsome!!! I want a cool song like that. All I have is a song called "Last time I spoke to Carol" and I think it's about a Carol who kills herself. Not cool. Maybe I need someone to rewrite lyrics for that song...hmmm...

You are such a sweetheart and I love you, my dear. <> I wish you lived closer! Thanks so much for the amazing shoutout. I'm truly flattered and honored and a little unsure of what to say! Seriously, you're amazing!

Also, you're doing a super job with the NaNo!! Keep going, girlie! You're gonna win, for sure!!

Sloppy wet kisses,

Great work on your NaNo project! Woo Hoo! And how awesome to have CPs who write you tribute songs? Sah-weet!

your wordcount is slapping me in the face and getting my competetive urges all riled up.

Also, now i want to watch Finding Nemo. Again.

And the song gets an A+

Keep up the writing. Sounds good. And I love your mouse/teddy picture. So sweet. Although I probably wouldn't say that if, right now, I could see a mouse with a teddy in its mouth in the middle of my carpet.

When my brother first started dating his current girlfriend, Caroline, for some reason he downloaded a ton of songs about that name. Then he burned her a mix CD. There's everything from "Sweet Caroline" (of course) to the Outkast song ("Roses"), and some screamo band that sounds like it's fronted by Cookie Monster. It's funny. :)

Also, I think you'll finish by Friday. It'll be nice for you to take the rest of the year off! Can't wait to see your Christmas decoration pis. :)

Elliot Grace said...

...we love you too, Lola:)

Hoping all's well with your NaNo project! (I'm quite confident it is;)

Your NaNo is doing well. See what happens when you retreat from the blogosphere for awhile. I just can't bring myself to do that!

Great post..:)

Nicole Zoltack said...

That song was seriously awesome! Loved it. I wish I had a song too.

Congrats on reaching the 40s already! Wow, you go girl! I'm 1100 words away from being on track. I see no reason why I can't get caught up before bed, although the inlaws are visiting tonight....

Jen Daiker said...

Lola your fabulous... who am I kidding, you already knew that, as does everyone else who stops by!

Love the picture up top :) LOVED IT!

Glad to hear you're kicking butt on it. Most of the other people in blogland seemed to be filled with pain and despair because of nano.

I've been absorbed by life and nano as well, and have hardly surfaced! I've missed so many blog posts by my bloggy buds!!!

I'm over the 30k mark so I'm hopeful for nano, but I've got some busy times ahead, so we'll see!

Stina Lindenblatt said...

Carolyn V. said...

Awww! He is so cute. I will take him home and name him George. =)
The song rocks! I love it! I didn't do NaNo because of school-but I feel like I've done NaNo with all the writing of papers I've had to do. Ugh. Good luck with the rest of NaNo (Boy I said NaNo alot here, sorry 'bout that.)

Hart Johnson said...

*huggles mouse* He is SO CUTE! You are rocking your NaNo! Well done! I intend to hit 40K by Saturday, so the rest of Nov. I can keep my goal at 1000 a day or less... that means 4000 between now and then, which I should manage. I love Dory and her Squishy, too--my kids still use 'Squishy' to refer to anything cuddly.

Lola Sharp said...

Carolyn-- I will love him and squeeze him...*bonk boink*

Stina--Vacation MUCH more enjoyable than pounding out a few thousand words/day. You chose wisely.

Carolina--Kisses back at you. (and if you pronounced your name like the states, you'd have plenty of're on my mind.

Sara (and all Sara's/Sarah's)-- 'Sara Smile' by Hall & Oates is rather lovely. :)

Nano-ers-- You CAN do this. Now go kick some word-count ass!

Everyone--Thank you for the kind words and for stopping by.

I hope YOUR writing is going well.

But she is well. I'll tell her she is missed. :)

Everyone--Love you 'guys'. Have a fantastic weekend.

My lame lyrical talents have now made me infamous!

Your post pulled me out of my #LaMo, or "Lazygirl Nano" moment.

And, most important, congrats for tackling that NaNo beast! Seeing your green bar today makes me smile. Now go have a Gin and Tonic to celebrate :-)

Oh, hello Lola. It's so good to be in the blogosphere again and *see* all my old pals. School's been eating all my time, but I have a break soon and I'll be here more often.

What a fantastic song that was written for you. You deserve all the good things in life.

And I couldn't agree with you more; The miracle IS love.

The Words Crafter said...

I love the mouse with the teddy bear!!!! And that song rocks!

Congratulations on the word count, too. Awesome! I'm nearly at 40k but feeling yucky has caused me to take a couple days off. I'm determined to try and finish the 50k this weekend because it won't really be ending there. I think...

Happy writing and an early happy thanksgiving!

First off, really cool blog. Second, I love how you wrote this. You kept me engaged the whole time. Third, I hope you like horror. I've got some published short stories, up on my blog. Do you think you will finish NaNo in time? I hope you like your book and that it comes out good. The writing, as I am sure you know, is the easy part.
