I ♡ YOU and...
Hello Friends,
I know. I've been MIA. You know the drill: I'm STILL deep, DEEP in Revision Hell.
It's evil up in here, yo.
(eek. his forked tongue FREAKS me out! *shudder*)
(also, every time I see the Savage Chickens, I always think it says SAUSAGE chicken.)
Speaking of sausage and evil, I'm stress eating my way around the plot holes.
And maybe imbibing in a cocktail (or two).
Truth be told, I miss you.
Before I crawl back in my writing hole I need to share a few things with you:
1) Do yourself a favor, go read my (hilarious and brilliant) friend Kristen's blog post today, her Query Letter Manifesto (and tomorrow's part 2)...it's genius and SO, SO damn funny. If you like it, and I KNOW you will (pinky promise), please leave her a comment and click her little follow button. (tell her *hello* for me)
2) I know I am behind on all the generous and kind awards many of you have given me recently. I promise, I WILL get to them. I'm really trying to stay offline and finish these revisions, and all the linkage will take me some time. So, I promise I will get to them SOON. Thanks for understanding.
3) Here are a couple of pictures of my Halloween decorations, as promised (more to come next week...and I will also have pictures from the Halloween part we are attending this weekend.) I'm dorky and love to decorate for all the holidays....so this is a VERY small bit of what I have going on in the house right now (no time to download more right now):
3) My lovely friend Sara @ Babbling Flow is giving away LOTS of ARCs...go enter! (please tell her hello for me *waves*)
4) Know that I read and LOVE every single comment and ♡ every single one of YOU. THANK YOU for visiting me and for being in the world.
How is YOUR writing going? Read anything mind-blowing lately? What are YOU doing this weekend?
(my weekend frolicking will be the BIG halloween costume party on Saturday night, and having company on Sunday for football. Otherwise, I'll be revising.)
Love,
Lola

About Me

- Lola Sharp
- My name is Lola. (I'm not a showgirl) Yes, L-O-L-A Lola. It's the least of my worries. Let's move on, shall we? This blog is mostly about my misadventures on the journey to publication and beyond. My passion for lush prose, quirky characters, art, music, literature, performing arts and anything creative will be a major theme here. This journey of mine will not always be pretty. Much like rubbernecking a train wreck, I know sometimes you just can't help but look at the carnage that is often my life. So strap on your neck brace, helmet and 5-point harness and come along for the ride! Licentia poetica.

I love the Halloween decorations! Missing you in Candyland! (that sort of sounded gross...)
Love your decorations! We've a few up outside, but my two little destructo-boys manage to destroy any indoor decorations! ;)
Have a great weekend and hope the revisions go smoothly for you!
You're great at decorating. Also, the doll freaks me out, too.
Your Halloween decorations are awesome, Lola!!!
Sounds like a fun weekend ahead for you! You deserve the break, so enjoy!!!
Ah! Love the decor. We go all out for Halloween, too. My husband delights in frightening children...sick man :0D You, my daet, are missed. Sending you great revision vibes...
I am also in revision hell. In that, I've read through it once and red penned the crap out of it, and now have to sit down at the computer and make all the changes, including figuring out the notes I wrote while on the elliptical and the ones that simply say "This chapter sucks."
Love the Halloween decorations! And understand the revising hell thing...been spending some time there myself recently...UGH. Much alcohol is needed.
My favorite holiday!!!
"Sausage chicken!" Classic...
hi miss lola! wow that devil sure looks scary. eek! i like how you got so much decorations all over your house. our cousin brigitte does that too and its fun looking at all the stuff. you just gotta put some picture up of that party. i could want to see how you look. i hope its lots of fun for you.im gonna miss you for sure. i hope you dont stay gone too long.
...hugs from lenny
ooh, i think i have the grandparents to the creepy children you have in the frame. Yes they're holographic and change at the correct angle, but people always think it's a real photo of our real grandparents.
Even my grandma thought this. WTF grandma?!
Love that first pic... So cute!
Interesting decor for a grand piano! I totally understand your husbands fear. Hope your revisions are going smoothly. Love the look of that cocktail. Could do with one of those now.
Enjoy the party and look forward to seeing more photos.
I hate hate hate S*i*e*s (can't even spell it out all the way!!) *shudders* that being said... kick a** decorating!!!
We miss you too! Loved the kitty and I also was thinking "Sausage Chickens... that's strange!"
You are missed but hope your revisions end well!
LOVE your decor! And that cute darn kitten omg. love.
Wow, that doll scares me too;)
Great Halloween decorations! :D
Lola! You are a total doll! Thank you for the ringing endorsement of the Manifesto and your gloriously kind comment at my blog. I think I've gotten 6 new followers just based on your post. I had no idea you commanded such a mighty army of minions. I shall remember to always stay on your good side. :)
Cheers,
Kristen
Ew!! The forked tongue is really freaky! Ew!! And now that you mention it I shall forever see Sausage Chickens.
Awwwww I'm so sorry about the revision hell you are in now but it's all for the common good really and truly!! GOOD LUCK!!! Imbibing of cocktails or three is always good!!
I look forward to more pics of your halloween decor - how lusciously dark and twisted!!! :-)
This weekend I promise to be GOOD and to write beyond the first erm... paragraph of chapter 1 page 1. LOL!!!
Take care
x
LOVE the Halloween pics! Awesome :)
I'm slugging along in RH beside you! It's not a lot of fun at the moment, I hope it's getting better soon!!! Good luck :)
*waves* Off to visit the "manifesto"!! Good luck with revisions! *drinks cocktail with Lola's name on it*
I wish we had more Halloween decorations! Little by little, year after year, I'll build up our cache.
Hang in there with your revisions -- there's a line forming of peeps out here anxious to read your book :D
I just finished a short story that I'm pretty excited about, but waiting for feedback before I call it a success. Sometimes, the work I think is my most brilliant falls flat for the reviewers. (Go figure!)
Thinking of you, and wish we could share one of those yummy-looking green cocktails! One day!
((hugs)) Nicole
I'm sorry about your revision hell. I hope it's over soon.
I like your decorations!
I'll check out Kristen's blog. Thanks for the link.
We've missed you too! And I finally got to the post office (*blushes*) to send your prize. I've been revising like a maniac so I can pitch my book at a conference in two days.
I just noticed your category "random crap," which totally cracked me up.
Hang in there!
I love your decorations!! Can I spend Halloween at your house?!
I understand why you're MIA, it's completely okay, as long as you come back eventually!
My writing's doing rather well, I've started my degree course finally and I wrote my first poem today!
Those are some creepy decorations, Lola! Very cool:)
I feel your pain. I was in perfunctory edit purgatory but have now put the work away while someone reads my work. I'll reenter hell when they are done reading and give me the lowdown on all the mistakes and plot trenches.
hope its going well!
Ugh! Hate revision hell! But at least your Halloween decorations are fitting :) Have a great weekend! Good luck!
Your Halloween pics are so awesome! Sorry about the revisions. What a pain they are. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will go quickly!
Ha! I read sausage chickens, too, which seemed appropriate since he was about to be barbecued. And, being in a similiar dimension as you are, I'm craving a mojito right about now.
Yep...you and my wife spring from the same holiday pool! Your decorations ROCK!! Halloween is my second favorite holiday. :)
I love seeing pictures of decorations, and I love yours! Thanks for posting! I hope Revision Hell isn't so hell-ish for you and hope you have a fabulous weekend!! :D
LOVE your Halloween decorations! Fun. :)
That picture at the top of the post is SO adorable!
Love the decorations :-)
I love the Halloween decor. I wish I was more creative for holidays and events.
Girlfriend!
Hey, Miss Lola, it's been too long. I've been away as well because life has been too frigging busy since I published in February, and seemingly busier by the week. I keep wanting to quit my day job, but wifey says no; apparently the kids like eating far too much. Lord knows I would be a wreck if I couldn't shop iTunes nearly every week. ;)
Take care,
-Jimmy
Nice, ghastly decor. The one time I can say that and be complimentary.
I'm in revision hell too, so cheers!
You have a grand piano, now I'm jealous. Oh well, when I become a rich and famous writer...oh yeah, I forgot, in my dreams.
I will probably have to stop blogging for a couple weeks too. Or do less of it due to editing. I'm behind and my cold makes my brain fuzzy.

Lots of cool pics though!!
Hi Lola,
Just keep sipping your "juice" and telling yourself you *can* make it through these revisions.
Love the Halloween decorations - thanks for sharing! =)
Hang in there.
I think we are in neighboring cells in revision Hell. And, hello, stress-eating? Right here. Ugh.
I love love love the way use these pictures in your blog. It always makes me SMILE. So if you get bummed about your revisions, just read your blog.
Nice decorations! I went bonkers this year with all sorts of dust collecting Halloween crap. I'm sure my husband is thrilled.
Keep chugging along with those revisions.
Your decorations are spooky and fun.
Hope your writing is going well. Hugs.
I love the pictures on your blog posts. Mostly, I admire your ability to shut down and work on your revisions, much luck with that.
I've been busy writing and getting ready for the neighborhood haunted house. Your decorations are awesome. I love your piano.
Keep at it. Resurface when you can.
Those are pretty creative Halloween decorations. Good luck with your editing. It sounds hard. Have a beautiful weekend Lola. xox -Susan
Gawd! The look of that drink tells me that drink tastes like electricity! Where can I get one?
Love the decor. I'd give you a hand, but, well.... :D
Any tips for future Revision Hellions?
Yay - good to see you again - missed you! :)
Love the decorations. And I hear you on the revisions. I'm almost done but it's taking bl**dy forever!
...still slugging along with you!
What's it been, six months now that we've been at it?
Hang in there, Sweetheart. As I wrote in my earlier celebration post...the first drink's on me:)
Love the decorations!
I'm in revising hell myself. Hoping to be done with this story so I can query it by the end of the month. Then I can gear up for Nano.
I miss you too! Although your hallway corner is lovely even if it's NOT Halloween. Guten luck with revisions!
Good luck with edits! It sounds ... painful. LOL. But your decorations are amazing!
Love you too, Lola. ;)
It's good to hear from you, if only for a bit. Hang in there. Keep chugging away at those revisions. You're making that baby shine. It'll be worth it.
It looked like sausage to me, too ;)
And your decorations are creeptastic. Love it! I used to decorate for all the seasons and holidays, too. But I've gotten lazy, and since we moved from the UK, so much of our stuff is still in boxes and God only knows where some of that stuff is.
It's nice to see you!
I hope you have a great weekend, especially at that party.
It's good to hear from you... best of luck.
Fun! I always love pictorial posts. Eating your way around plot holes has always proven to be a useful technique for me. Of course, eating in general usually proves useful!
LOVE the decorations!
Good luck with revisions! :)
I loved ALL the pictures, yours and the ones from the interwebs!
Good luck with the revisions and I visited Kristen's blog, and followed. Thanks for the intro!
Good to hear from you. And what great Halloween decorations! Mine are woefully shabby. My poor kids. :)
Good luck with edits!
Also, to add to my previous comment, I have a blog award for you. Should you choose to accept it - it's on my blog :)
Good luck with edits. I feel ya babe. Not literally. But I just finished mine...
Actually, what leapt to my mind was:
"And truth be told, I miss you.
And truth be told, I'm lyin'..."
That song is so freakin' catchy!
Good luck with the revisions! I'm knee deep in them, too, but I just couldn't stay away from blogland so I ended my hiatus today. And I love your decorations!
I went fossil hunting and Harley riding this weekend. :)
I have an award for you over at my blog. :-)
Hi Lola, I'm visiting to say hello to a fellow Crusader - and I'm also embroiled in revision hell. Good luck with your edits.
It's good to hear you're still hanging in there. I love the pictures! As for my own writing, I'm almost finished with outlining my upcoming work in progress and plan to start by the end of this week!
