Whatcha Know About Me, Whatcha Whatcha Know (my lipgloss be poppin')

Husband took this picture last weekend at the Pa. Ren Faire

love ♡ (random order and not a complete list):

My husband and daughter
lush prose
rope swings
cobblestone streets
secret courtyard gardens
twinkle lights
live oaks draped in spanish moss
oyster roasts on the beach
handwritten letters
seaside cottages
street cafes
reading in the bathtub
tree houses
dark chocolate
coffee (cream and sugar please)
chocolate coke-cola cake
flower-boxes spilling with flowers
Anthropologie (the store)
my love-puppy
Bitty Kitteh
a good cut, color and blowout
the Big box o' Crayola crayons...love the smell, the names of the colors
vintage typewriters
vintage cameras
arched bridges
vinyl records
my MacBook
weeping willow trees
floating on the water
driving fast
the sound of laughter
I LOVE: My daughter at Ren Faire last weekend

I hate:

greed and corruption
selfish people
dirty bathrooms...ewwww
when people drive slow in the fast lane and stay there
my lack of patience
my lack of computer skills
when my pillow gets hot
animal cruelty
rude people
socks in bed...ewww!
when people talk (loudly) on their cellphones in bookstores/restaurants/almost anywhere in public...or use them while driving.

What do YOU love...hate?

Shannon Whitney Messenger said...

Okay, I LOVE this post--and OMG we have to much in common!

I also love rubbing a kitty tummy, especially when they're sleepy. I love cake batter ice cream and anything from Tiffanys. Oh, and falling into a story that won't let me stop reading.

I hate peas, people who park their clearly not compact cars in compact spaces, and anything that smells bad. Oh, and kids throwing tantrums in public.

Have a great Tuesday!

Falen (Sarah) said...

oooh i like and hate almost all the same stuff!
I would throw in that i love puppy breath, and cuddling with my dogs.
and that i hate hypocrites.

Courtney Barr - The Southern Princess said...

Lola girl! I must say that your loves are wonderful! So happy to have seen so many of the same when I think of my loves...

to add: the smell of fresh cut grass in the summer, football games in the fall, curling my toes in dark brown Alabama mud, swinging from a rope swing into cool water, waves crashing along a beach, rain on a tin roof, Sunday afternoons, kisses from my dog, the feel of charcoal in my hand raised over a blank sheet of paper, music that makes me dance, singing for no reason at all, the feel of a wheelbarrow's cool metal as I curl up to read a book (yep - it started when I was a kid), my husband's smile, an evening of dinner - games - & - laughter with family...

Hate - nothing. I can't, truly, even the things that annoy me only do so for such a split second that it would be hard to list something... but my annoyances might be many if I tried ;o)

Love the post! Love you girl!

Holy cow, chocolate coke-cola cake? Are you serious? :)

I second your love for seaside cottages.

Old Kitty said...

Oh wonderful Lola - where's that cute kitty you had last time - I can't see Bitty Kitteh on your love list?!!? :-)

And your daughter is beautiful!!

I love a properly made cappuccino.
I hate a disgutingly made cappuccino that I paid £2.55 for.
:-)(Costa you know who you are!).

Take care

aspiring_x said...

great lists! your daughter is so beautiful, but the clown guy TOTALLY freaked me out!
oh my hate list:
clowns (don't get it? three words: john wayne gacy)
love list:
mimes (i know- makes no sense- huh? welcome to my mind.)

~Nicole Ducleroir~ said...

I love that your "Love" list is twice as long as your "Hate" list. I love the sound of M&Ms being poured into a glass bowl, cooking with my husband, walking a beach searching for shells, opening the window on the first day it smells like Spring, the first sip of the first cup of coffee in the morning, and the week of Christmas.

I hate when people try to convince me their religious or political viewpoints are right. And I hate disrespect, in all its forms.

Your daughter is so beautiful, Lola!

Ann said...

I am intrigued by the chocolate coca cola cake. What is that???

I love the smell of lavender
the smell of freshly baked bread
the sound of a baby's contented sigh, just to name a few.

Lola Sharp said...

Kitty--I added Bitty to the list! I feel so bad for missing her. I LOVE her!

LR--YES...it is SO moist and yummy! Homemade is best (it's a southern thing)...BUT you can get it at any Cracker Barrel. It's deelish!

Sarah--I LOVE puppy breath!

Aspiring- I don't like clowns or mimes. They both freak me out. (this clown was also a mime. He didn't speak. It creeped me out!)

Courtney--I love all your loves...and I'm a total beach baby...I don't know how I didn't put that on my love list. *sigh* Warm sand in my toes and salty air is full of yummy.
But, I don't know how you don't (double negative...double sigh) hate war and animal cruelty. *scratches head* You're a bette person than I.

Shannon--LOVE rubbing kitty bellies! Until they bunny thump me with their sharp back claws. ;)

Lindsay (a.k.a Isabella) said...

I love this post. :)

I love chocolate Coca Cola cake as well. I've got a great recipe from Nigella Lawson on making it. Mmm, cake.

The Alliterative Allomorph said...

Love vinil records, 50s music :o), Hate: phlegm stuck on the sink and not washed down the drain!

Lola Sharp said...

Nic--I LOVE ALL your loves too...and agree 100% with your hate-list. :)

Ann--Fresh baked bread....YUM. *drool*

The cake is best homemade, but the Cracker Barrel serves a deelish one! So moist. LOVE. *more drool*

And oh, I forgot... I LOVE the smell of a baby's head...

Lola Sharp said...

Lindsay--I'm off to google the recipe!!

Jemi Fraser said...

I agree with pretty much everything on your list - not the coffee though (although I love the smell!) - I'll substitute Chai tea for that :)

I love: my family, daisies, raspberries, tennis & my life

Fran said...

Great lists. Like little poems in themselves. I love libraries, chocolate and cheese sauce, and I hate it when I can't have access to them.

Hannah Kincade said...

I agree with most things except sans the felines.

I also love newborn baby breath, hands and feet.

Add to that the smell of burning wood, Christmas trees, The Man (well, everything about him)...I love smells. ooooh, glazed donuts smell good.

The feel of a brand new crisp clean notebook, full of potential hopes and dreams. I loves paper.

Jen said...

Weird clown, jester types freak me out, but your daughter is beautiful! How cool that she dressed up for such a fabulous occassion! Do you also dress up?? I've always wanted to, but still have yet to take the leap. October is approaching, maybe I should re-consider!!!

I love -
rain (when it doesn't ruin lunch dates)
My husband
My kitties (especially their meows)

I dislike -
Annoying people.

Carolyn V. said...

This is a great post! I love it! I love writing, family and friends. I hate tooth aches.

Jai Joshi said...

I agree with pretty everything you love and hate except oysters on the beach. *shudder*

I hate:
people who are insincere
people who are cruel to others

Kittie Howard said...

Wow, we have many of the same loves, especially roasted oysters (OMG, too delicious for words). I also echo Southern Princess about soft rains. I hate large abstracts like war.

Anonymous said...

I love that your love list is longer than your hate list.

I hate when things aren't balanced.

Lola Sharp said...

Y'all crack me up!

Oh...you know what else I love?
Something I KNOW you guys will think is weird and maybe even gross?

I LOVE drinking pickle juice from the jar!

(especially bread and butter pickle juice, or good dill pickle juice.)

Julie said...

I love this post!!!

I'd add that I love the moment when you know where your story has been leading you all along. Pesky smart things, those stories. :)

Laura Marcella said...

I love the smell of Crayola crayons, too! I know the color names just by looking at them. I still color a lot, heehee! It takes the stress away, probably because I feel like such a care-free kid with my coloring books and crayons, haha!

This was fun getting to know you a little more, Lola!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

I love my wife, my iPad, and my guitar. Hate mowing the lawn and stupid drivers.

Jeff King said...

Thx for sharing... my list is too long to get into, I'll just say this:

I love and hate writing.

Susan Tiner said...

Lola, this is a fun post. I love many of the same things you do, especially books and Kitty tummy rubs, and definitely hate when my pillow gets hot!

I also love cooking for friends and family and chatting with them till it's late in the evening.

Hi Lola,

I found your blog today via Jessica Lemmon's blog. Glad I did!

Love your list of things you love! It makes me feel good about the world.

Don't know if you're from PA - or just went to the festival there. We just moved from PA to TX a year ago last July. I'm already missing the beautiful fall that is on its way to Pennsylvania! Sigh...

Kelly said...

Excellent list.
And there's a chocolate coca cola Cake?!!! Two of my loves in one? Must try that!
And I love wearing socks to bed. I HAVE to in fall/spring/winter or I can't get to sleep! Hee!

Lexa said...

I love this post! So happy. I'd add to the love list: the smell of heat. Do you know what I mean? That kind of spicy smell you get right after you come in from being outside for a long time.
BTW I'm stealing this for my blog =]

Sara McClung ♥ said...

Oh man, this is an awesome post Lola! Give me cobblestone streets and twinkle lights and you've pretty much made my day!

I love the soft fur of my cats, the beach right before a storm--and during, the smell of fresh cut grass...

I hate one uppers, congestion, my lack of will to exercise, cleaning (sad, but true)

Also, your daughter is beautiful!

Alexandra Crocodile said...

I love my sweetheart and family, cats, dogs, chocolate, tiffany's and books. I hate a lot of things, but I don't want to mention them because I'm in a good mood from thinking out all the things I love:)

Candyland said...

Your hate list sounds like mine but minus about a hundred things! But my love list is simple: friends (online and off), family, life and everything they represent.

Kittie Howard said...

Your comment on my post about the rude preacher and his prude wife made my day, Lola! Love your spirit! (Oysters forever!)

Vicki Rocho said...

I love your list. I made one for my 40th birthday (40 things I love) and I keep goin back in and tweaking it.

As for the socks in bed...I'm thinking you'd reconsider if your feet got as cold as mine do November through April!

The Words Crafter said...

This is a super post! We have a lot in common (I love to drive fast, too!) on the love and hate lists. In addition to what you already wrote, I love autumn, fall festivals, holidays, family game nights, rain, snuggling (alone or with husband) in a blanket on a cool or cold day/night, frost on trees, tomato soup with grilled cheese, my brother's laughter, Honey's back rubs, the hugs of the kids in my class....hate, in addition to what you wrote-mosquitoes, extreme heat/cold/humidity, narrow mindedness, double standards, my lack of ambition or stick-to-it-ness.....wow. This should be a tag exercise! Awesome!

You know what else I love?

How delightful each of you are.

☼ You've made my day a little brighter. ☼

Theresa Milstein said...

I love the idea of making love/hate lists.

I hate when people open a public bathroom door without knocking. Sometimes they don't lock!

I've never been to an oyster roast on the beach. Now I want to go to one!

Angie Ledbetter said...

What a great blog! Glad I stumbled in. Lurve your lists.

Missed Periods said...

That's funny about hot pillows. I flip my pillow over like twenty times a night.

Jessica Lemmon said...

Hi Lola, thanks for visiting my blog yesterday! Nice to *meet* you. :-)

I love fresh basil in the summertime, the way you can brush its leaves with your fingers and it leaves that fragrant scent behind.

I hate violence against an animal or person.

Erica Mitchell-Spickard said...

Awe, your daughter is beautiful! This cake sounds amazing and bizzare at the same time which intrigues me. We have a lot in common like the many peeps above me.
I love waking up next to my husband, when my dog curls up with me during scary movies, unexpected letters from my family and friends, waking up to a day that just feels right and sitting on my front porch when a storm approaches oooh and thunder and clean sheets and dolphins and I could keep going...

I hate takers and intolerance

Lisa said...

We really were on the same wavelength yesterday! I love your lists. There's so much there.

And the photo of your daughter is stunning. Such a beauty.

Talli Roland said...

Your daughter is gorgeous!

Ah yes, courtyard gardens and cobblestone streets... sigh! I also love Pimms, kittens purring, snuggling, the smell of my husband's neck (yum), brown sugar, WINE!

Linda G. said...

My lists are remarkably similar to yours. And your daughter is beautiful. :)

Elliot Grace said...

...yep, socks in the bed. Hate that!
Those who leave their socks in my bed to become entangled in my skivvies while sleeping (wife,) awaken to find those socks entangled in their bed-hair!

Saumya said...

These lists make me soo happy!! We have so many loves in common and hates (dirty bathrooms and socks in bed piss me off).

Carol Kilgore said...

Perfect list. I have only one slight difference:
Coffee ... straight up black caffeine

And hot pillows? I thought I was the only one. Really hate that.

Your daughter is lovely!

Carolina Valdez Miller said...

I was just thinking, "Man, we are so in sync! We're like sisters! We should be BFFs"

And then I got to the socks in bed. Ha!

I still think we'd get along famously. We should drive past slow people together and go get lattes sitting beneath an oak covered in Spanish moss. I'm loving on this idea, Lola.

Bethany Mattingly said...

I loved that you popped over to my blog!!! and I also love country air, long drives on windy, country roads, the smell of fresh cut hay, and the feel of sun on my skin. I really hate sweating, ignorance, and my habit of tripping over my own feet :)

Shannon O'Donnell said...

I love my three darling kiddos and our labradoodle. I love the smell and feel of Fall. I love anything having to do with books and coffee and soft blankets.

I hate mean people, prejudice, onions, and that kids have to grow up. :-)

Anonymous said...

I agree with every one of your hates!!

Janna Qualman said...

I love posts compiled of random stuff! And a lot of your loves mirror mine.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I love connecting, especially with those who write literary fiction. I know my genre is women's fiction, and I'm coming to believe it's literary in nature, too. Great to 'meet' ya. :)

Claudia said...

Wow! It's nice to see you have a lot of "loves". I love so many things thus, the list would be too long to write down. But I really hate two things: animal cruelty and rude/inconsiderate people, in that order.

Nicole Zoltack said...

I love my family, my friends, that I can stay at home with my two boys.

I hate that I don't have a daughter (yet, hopefully!), that I don't have nearly enough time for my writing, that I haven't signed yet with an agent.

Elana Johnson said...

Dude, you nailed it with the slow drivers in the fast lane. That irks me to no end.

I love sour patch kids and phone conversations that leave me feeling good. I hate mushrooms and when there is nothing good to watch on TV.

Lola Sharp said...

You guys are so fun and funny and sweet and interesting.

Thank you to everyone who mentioned my daughter.

Her hair is back in a bun, her eyes are closed, and she's wearing a flowing hippy dress...it's not a good picture. But she is lovely and I thank you for saying kind things. :)

You are appreciated. Thanks for stopping by.

Jennie Bailey said...

I love coffee, bookstores, the honesty of kids, my dog's goofy grin and enthusiasm for life, boot camp (it hurts but I loooove that pain), lip gloss, cool summer nights, sleepovers (even at my age!), NFL football, YOUR BLOG!
I hate being out of breath (asthma), being two hours away from my mom, being two hours away from my nephew, rude people, arrogance, preseason football, hot weather.

I love the mountain where my grandparents used to live. It will always be my "happy place." I believe that if there's a portal to a magical realm anywhere on this planet, it's somewhere in those woods, where I'd roam all day long in my hiking boots, looking for the right place to sit under a tree and pretend to be a Native American princess. I love the smell of a mountain river--the moss, the damp earth.

Most of all, I love this mountain in the fall. The smell of burning leaves, the excited thump in my heart as I look around and see possibility behind each leaf.

And I love that thinking of this mountain refuge can still put tears in my eyes.

I hate green peppers.
