I Heart Gilmore Girls (and Kirk freaks me out)

I miss Stars Hollow. *sigh*

BUT, here's something to get my hopes up:

Forthcoming HBO Project for Amy Sherman-Pallidino (writer/creator of Gilmore Girls)
On October 13, 2009, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Sherman-Palladino had been signed to write and executive produce an as yet untitled drama series for HBO.[9] The series will "chronicle the complicated relationship between three adult sisters, all writers sharing the same upper east side apartment building, and their mother, a domineering literary lioness who reserves most of her affections for their ne'er-do-well brother."

Okay, off to get more coffee, coffee, coffee and get back to slogging through Revision Hell.

Oh, and Thursday I shall announce my EPIC Whatever Lola Wants CONTEST! Prepare yourselves.

Don't forget to wang chung tonight.

Falen (Sarah) said...

ooh that sounds good. AND i get HBO so i can totes watch it!

Aubrie said...

Good luck with your revisions! I don't get HBO *sad face*

Susan Tiner said...

No HBO here either I'm afraid, so we wait for everything to be released on Netflix.

I can't wait to see what Lola wants.

Elspeth Antonelli said...

We have an orange cat called Kirk - not after Kirk but after Cat Kirk. This amuses us. The cat is not a people cat. He spends his days on a window ledge, judging the outside world. I suspect he judges harshly.

Lola Sharp said...

Elspeth, well at least YOUR Cat Kirk doesn't claw you--even in the tub. ;)

I can seriously recite every single episode.

I have a fish named Hep Alien.

Talli Roland said...

Ooh, a contest coming! Yay!

I love the Gilmour Girls too, so I can't wait. It'll probbly take ages to get to the UK, though.

Summer said...

Gilmore Girls kept me company and kept me sane during the days following my wrist injury and throughout surgery and recovery. ABC Family played one episode at 5pm, M-F, in consecutive order. The first season pretty much started right as I hurt myself. I watched religiously every day for months, and cried when the series finale played--sometime this past February, I think. They're my BFFs.

I don't get HBO either, but I'd be very excited for a new series from S-P!

laurel said...

HBO...grrr. I also don't have cable. Alas, I'll also be waiting for the DVDs on Netflix. This situation does sound like it will have loads of literary allusions tossed into all the witty banter Sherman-Paladino is known for. Sweet!

My random GG-fangirl comment: of all the possible love interests for Rory, I most loved "naked guy" who she met early in her years at Yale.

Liza said...

Here is one of the many reasons why I love my husband. Over successive birthdays, Christmas's and Mother's Days, he bought me the entire Gilmore Girls series on DVD. I watched them through once, two years ago. Then, this summer, we had a visitor who loves GG too. So out came the disks...we started watching and after she left, I kept going. I'm on season three now. I heart Gilmore Girls, and I heart my husband, who will even sit and watch some with me...Last night he said: "I'm glad I gave you a gift that keeps on giving." Can't wait for the new show too.

Palindrome said...

I don't have cable but I can always Netflix it later!! Thanks for the tip.

I never watched Gilmore Girls. It bored me. Sorry. *hanging head*

Kathryn said...

I loved Gilmore Girls too, but could only keep up with their fast-paced dialogue if I was equally as caffeinated. ;)

Corinne said...

I adore the Gilmore Girls! I am in dire need of a GG fix actually...

TechnoBabe said...

Glad you are writing and that is going well. I do know who the Gilmore Girls are. I was still watching some television then.

Lola Sharp said...

Oh Laurel, Naked Guy aka Marty was such a wimp, I couldn't stand him.

I really miss that show.

Liza--My husband bought me each seasons box sets as they came out, too. :)
AND, he watches them with my and the Kid (she's 14 now)...ALL 3 of us know every episode by heart. No one should ever play against us in GG trivia. (the kid could even tell you who directed any given episode.)

Hannah--NO you di-int just say that! *throws rotten tomatos* ;)

And---how are all you people living without HBO?! Their series are the ONLY shows on TV left worth watching. I love my Sunday night must-see True Blood and Hung.

Shannon O'Donnell said...

More coffee, coffee, coffee sounds like a grand idea! I think I'll join you.

Can't wait to see what your contest reveals!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Thanks, now I have that song stuck in my head!!

Jemi Fraser said...

Like Alex, that song is stuck in my head too!

Looking forward to the contest :)

JEM said...

WHAT is with his belly in the clip? He's skinny as a whip, but he has this weird belly. The show sounds awesome!

Lisa said...

That dance Kirk did feels like revisions sometimes.

Amy Allgeyer Cook said...

I MISS STARS HOLLOW TOO!!! Sadly, nothing has taken place of the Gilmore Girls for me. Maybe Amy's new series will fill the void.

Laura Marcella said...

I miss Stars Hollow, too!!! I wish it was a real town! I don't like how Gilmore Girls' last season went, though. I wanted to see Lorelai and Luke have a wedding and a baby or two!

Lola Sharp said...

Laura...Oh that was the least of my issues with that 7th season...the writing/script without Amy was awful.

JEM--you should see him with his shirt off! *shudder* There's a sauna scene that scarred me for life.

Old Kitty said...

I have no idea what this programme is but the women were talking ever so loudly at the front and no-one said "Shhhh!"! LOL!!!

GOOD LUCK with your revision!!!! GO GIRL!!!

Take care

Sarah Callejo said...

I'll give the revisions a pass, but a cup of coffee would be nice thanks.

Jeff King said...

Not familiar with it.

Melissa said...

Good luck on your revisions!! And OMG I totally love kirk and that scene. My friend can do the whole dance, and does on occasion just to make me laugh... it kills me every time. Thanks for this.

Sarah said...

I first saw GG in England, it was on late at night, but I was awake breastfeeding baby boy. For some reason, I never had a problem getting out of bed at 2am for a feeding! addicting show.
I wish I had HBO, but honestly, the less tv the better!

Susan Fields said...

Good luck in Revision Hell! Hopefully the coffee will help - it always helps me.

Carol Kilgore said...

Three writer sisters living together? It's a wonder they haven't killed each other - LOL.

I have an award for you at my blog :)

Lindsay (a.k.a Isabella) said...

I loved Gilmore Girls too. Luckily there is a UK channel here that is repeating it. Whoo.

Good lucj in revision hell. I'm there with you.

Lola Sharp said...

Lisa--Yes! Revisions often ARE like: swimming upstream, jamming through an egg, giving birth, living, aging, falling apart... and then a twitchy, spazzy death.

For all of you knee deep in the RH with me...the next round is on me. *clink*

Lola loves YOU.

Erica Mitchell-Spickard said...

I adore this show and yeah his belly is a little weird in this clip. Good luck on the revisions! and sadly I don't have HBO, suck. But the show sounds awesome, which is why I am now frowning at my cable bill. Again.

Lola Sharp said...

Erica et all--I don't know when the show will begin. It's gonna be a while...right now they're pimping an awesome new series to start in Sept. (when true blood season is over) about gangsters in Atlantic City. (can't wait) I'll have to look into it further, but I'm guessing late 2011 at best.

Oh, I'm SO wang chunging tonight!

This HBO show sounds neat; I'm checking it out for sure.

Portia said...

I love epic! And I love contests. I'm slogging today, too, first though revision hell and later through a similar nonfiction version of hell sponsored by my freelance clients. But I am jealous of your coffee, because mine is decaffeinated today. In fact, I'm going to blame the lack of caffeine for this oddly rambling response ...

Mia said...

Thank you so much, I have been missing Stars Hollow for a long time *sighs* Especially Kirk, he's so funny and cool.

Jolene Perry said...

Ohh! Thanks for the heads up on that one. Also, I'm drooling over your shoes.

Jai Joshi said...

I never got into Gilmore Girls myself but I can see it's generated a lot of love here.

That clip was funny!

Rebecca @ Diary of a Virgin Novelist said...

Gawd, I hope they make that show. Based on the description alone, it's already my new favorite!

Lola Sharp said...

Jolene--Thank you. *blushes* I might (might) have a shoe shopping habit. But, I really do spend more on books/month than shoes. Usually. (I spend $100/week on books, generally)

I'll let you guys know what I learn about the HBO show.

I keep hoping for a G.G. movie.
Husband wants an Arrested Development movie first.
I'd take one of each, please.

I'll look out for the contest.

I've never seen The Gilmore Girls. :O
