Happy Father's Day!

Many of you know that my childhood was less than ideal, and I never had a 'daddy'...so it hasn't always been a holiday I could relate to. However, my husband has been the best father I've ever seen, and I'd be jealous of our daughter, except he spoils me too. (he made us breakfast this morning, like always) Watching him with her makes me love him even more.

So, to all the wonderful fathers out there that participate lovingly in your children's lives:

(I love you, Husband. The Child told me to tell you that SHE LOVES YOU too.)

Love,
Lola

What a sweet tribute. I love my Dad, but I also love my husband, who is wonderful with his daughter. And, like every weekend, he made me breakfast this morning.

What a sweet Father's Day post to your husband.

The feeling you get about this holiday is the feeling I have about Mother's Day. These holidays aren't happy for everyone.

I love that photo, those words put together.

Thx, and sorry to hear about your lack of a father.

Glad to hear your kids won't face that hardship.

You and I have that in common. I am so happy for you to have a man in your life who can love and share a life with you.

Not sure about your story, Lola. But I never had a "daddy" either. He was physically there but riddled with other problems. I'm also like you b/c I married a man who is a fabulous daddy to our two kids. Lucky me, after all.

...spent the day at the pool, lounging with a book while the offspring splashed. Okay...I did a little splashing myself:)

Wonderful post, Lola. Thanks so much:)

Aww, that's very sweet!

I can relate to you too, Lola, in that aspect. I didn't exactly have a joyful childhood either, nor did I have a father. But it's wonderful that you can still celebrate Father's Day with your husband and daughter!

This was a really nice post. My son's real father has been absent for his whole life. Having a new husband who willingly took my son in as his own is such a gift. (He cooks, too!) Thanks for sharing this :D

My name is Lola. (I'm not a showgirl) Yes, L-O-L-A Lola. It's the least of my worries. Let's move on, shall we? This blog is mostly about my misadventures on the journey to publication and beyond. My passion for lush prose, quirky characters, art, music, literature, performing arts and anything creative will be a major theme here. This journey of mine will not always be pretty. Much like rubbernecking a train wreck, I know sometimes you just can't help but look at the carnage that is often my life. So strap on your neck brace, helmet and 5-point harness and come along for the ride! Licentia poetica.
