It's Friday, I'm in Love...With...

Five Random Things I Love:

1) Reading a book rich with intoxicating prose and imagery that haunts and lingers long after the last page...
(one of my favorites: The English Patient)

2) Supportive Friends, and Link Love:

My friend and fellow writer, JP @ Where Sky Meets Ground is moving his family AGAIN (to Italy this time) this weekend, for our country.
The sacrifices our members of armed forces AND their families make are many and I'm deeply grateful to all of them...past, present and future.

So please stop by his blog and thank him this weekend.
And remember those who have fallen.

Safe travels, JP.

Summer @ ...and this time concentrate gave me this thoughtful Journey Support Award:

(I just got it yesterday and I'm already posting it!)

SarahJayne @ Writing in the Wilderness gifted me with the Beautiful Blogger Award:

(I just received it TODAY and I'm already posting it! Impressed?)

I'm passing the first one on to every person who reads this post and leaves a comment here and on JP's blog.

I'm passing the second one on to everyone who leaves a comment here and on Summer and SarahJaynes blogs.

Thank you for being here.

3) My husband, daughter, dogs, home,!

4) Friday's, BBQ's, Three-Day WEEKENDS!!!! (and cute shoes!)

(I LOVE, want, NEED these shoes! How perfect for this weekend and 4th of July they would be! *swoon* If anyone knows where I can buy them, LMK!)

5) The Beach!

What things are you loving this weekend?

Have a safe and FUN weekend!

Edited to add dresses I would totally wear with those shoes (and red lipstick):

Beach, beach, beach, yeah baby, even if I won't be there this weekend!

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

Those are some really cute/perfect shoes :) Things I love hmm..
clean sheets, I probably over wash them but I love the smell, a great book, BBQ's are the best, the beach is like my second home, and my husband (currently deployed) is my most favorite person in the world. Funny our lists are very similar.
I will have to stop by and tell him you sent me. Always glad to support.

Enjoy the weekend!

That portal to the beach and ocean look just right for me. I also really enjoyed The English Patient and the rich imagery.

What a nice happy post!! I love the beach too! And Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for reminding us what it's really all about.

A lot of veterans in my family, so Memorial Day and Veterans' Day are quite special to me.

I'm uber-impressed that you passed on the awards already!

Those shoes, man...I dunno about them! ;-)

Have a lovely weekend! I think it's supposed to rain here, which means even more cuddle time with the hubs.

lol Oh My the shoes... ;o)

I have active military & those passed in my family - Memorial Day is special to us.

Sadly - no three day weekend - my office is required to work on Monday ;O(

BUT I will go visit the fam, lay around in the pool, catch up on the fashion mags & just enjoy the summery weekend!

Have a wonderful wonderful weekend oh Wolfpack leader - be sure to get good beeper reception, wherever you are... ;o)

Definitely the three day weekend! I mowed yesterday, so won't have to do any yard work. Plan to catch Prince of Persia as well.

My extra special day of fun on a holiday weekend! I love those shoes, too, although you'd need a spiff outfit to match. I'm sure you've got that covered, though...

Awesome shoes! Wish your friends a safe tour in Italy. My hub is a USMC veteran. Thanks for reminding all that when Americans pause on Memorial Day, the legacy of those who've fallen shines brighter.

GREAT shoes!

I love wine, cupcakes, my husband, writing, cheese (blue cheese!), travel (sigh!)... so many things I can think of!

Have a brilliant weekend.

Fun shoes!! I love the images you post, they are captivating in every way.

And yes, I'm so ready for a 4 day weekend, and a birthday celebration (Mr. Wellborn's), and a Date Night, and anything else we can cram in!

happy Friday!!!

I'm loving that as of today at 5 pm, my boss is on holidays for a MONTH, which means plenty of time for me to work on my WIP. Woot!

CUTE shoes.

Have a great weekend ;-)

The things I love best come in packs of 6, not 5.

Seriously, though, I'll be loving me some family time this weekend. I have my son for Memorial Day!

Score one for Daddy! We have 50:50 custody, but it's a crapshoot who'll get him on the three-day weekends.

Grilling by the pool. (Public pool, I ain't that rich.) Maybe hit the lake. (wade in, I ain't rich enough for a boat, neither.)

Throw the ball for the dog. A long hike.

Love on my wife, assuming she's not too busy being pregnant.

Watch The Prince of Persia!

And so forth.

Enjoy the free weekend!

- Eric

I will be trying to get better so I can enjoy some of it.

A few weeks ago, I finally let myself do nothing but read one day, I finished a book in one sitting. It's been so long since I've done that! And now I've make a resolution to do that once a month.

Also, Sam makes me so happy it's sickening. :)

Have a great weekend!

Great picks. Plus you included two of my favourite things in the world - books and shoes. :)

I know that I should never judge a movie by its book, but I totally do when it comes to The English Patient. Perhaps I will reconsider. ;)

I love beaches, as well -- they're so relaxing to be at. :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Patti said...

In Canada we had our long weekend last weekend, so it's business as usually this weekend. I loved the English Patient and was amazed how the movie interrupted the book.

Great blog suggestions! Following both now (commented on both)... agree with you all through except the shoe thing. I am 5'11" and have short sausage toes on slightly wide feet. They aren't attractive in sexy shoes, and I am too tall when wearing them (though I do love a strappy silver sandal). As a nudist though, I need to remain dedicated to bare feet.

Jon Paul said...

Thanks for the shout out, Lola. I truly appreciate it! :D

P. S. English Patient is one of my absolute favs also!

You have to get those shoes!! They're awesome.

We had our long weekend last weekend - it was fabulous & relaxing - hope yours is the same :)

You like vintage clothes, cool. The shoes would be a disaster on me, but you now, would rock!

I agree with KarenG. This post was such a sweet and perfect way to start the long weekend. I get up at 3:00 in the morning for work, so I will be enjoying an extra hour or two of sleep. Secondly, I will be looking forward to some time spent with the better half (we get so little during the busy week). Finally, doing a lot of things, both fun and not so, but not having to be a in a hurry to do them (Plugged into my Ipod while doing most of them, of course).
Have a great weekend, all of you.

Oooh! I love the silhouette of that second dress.

I'm loving watching The Story of Us for the millionth time. I have no idea why I like this movie--it is mainly depressing and the end always makes me cry, but I freaking love it. The shoes are also super-cute!

You are such a girl! (that's a good thing, obviously) those shoes would not quite go with the third dress, but that's the one I like best. classy. Just like you.

Jojomama said...

Love the vintage clothes.
Love classic film, poetry, English countryside, the West coast and Indian food. (=

Saumya said...

I love the beach and all of those red dresses!! Ahh, those pictures make me want to get one. I also love pink lemonade in the summer.

Kazzy said...

I am loving a good friend, brownies, cute squishy babies, and Indian food.

Vicki Rocho said...

The shoes are cute, but they would KILL my feet. I would reserve those for a wedding or other high-falutin function. Fourth of July? I'm probably barefoot in my back yard (no pets, so I can do that. LOL)

Talei said...

Hey Lola, congrats on your award!!! Loving your list! ;) Esp Fridays, Three day weekends and the beach! This weekend am relaxing, spending lovely time with my family and friends. :) x

SUCH cute dresses and shoes! Thanks for the reminders about loving the simple, meaningful things and the fluffy, fun things! Life is fabulous with both!
